COVID-19 Guideline (As of August 11)
COVID-19 General Guideline for EC
As you know, the situation of COVID-19 and other infections is constantly changing. In order to ensure the safety of the event, we will provide updated countermeasures as necessary at the time of the event.
In general, JCFN will follow the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the State of California, the County of San Diego, and the venue at the time the EC is held.
JCFN will require participants to take the following two measures.
COVID-19 Guideline Before EC22
Only those who have negative PCR test results (including home antigen tests) on or after December 26, 2022 (3:00 p.m., California time) are eligible to participate.
If the situation changes, prior PCR testing may no longer be necessary.
Test results do not need to be sent in advance. Please bring them to the registration desk. (Negative results from kits should be photographed and brought with you. Or, have your laboratory's negative result email ready to present at the registration desk.)
Again, a negative result from a home kit (antigen test) is also valid.
In Japan, these kits can be purchased from this site or other sources. https://toamit.jp/ It is recommended that you purchase these kits in advance. In the U.S., please find a place where you can test for free, or find a way to obtain a home kit, or get tested at a place that is covered by your insurance.
COVID-19 Guideline During EC22
- We recommend that you wash your hands and gargle as often as possible. Also, be prepared to sanitize your hands with sanitizer when entering a room, especially before eating.
- At this time, social distancing and the wearing of masks are not mandatory, but are recommended.
PCR test for people returning to Japan
As of September 7, if you have received the third dose of the vaccine, you will no longer be required to obtain a negative PCR test certificate within 72 hours prior to departure from your place of stay, which is currently required for those entering Japan. However, it is necessary to have the three vaccinations and obtain a vaccination certificate.
There is no doubt that the border control measures for entry into Japan will change from now until the end of the year. We will keep an eye on the news and hope to be able to respond accordingly.
If you need a PCR test when you return to Japan, testing (for a fee) is available. For more information, please refer to the following
Virtual testing (AntigenTestUSA.com): $70 to $85 with a group discount. Results are available in one to two hours. Note that virtual testing appointments can also be scheduled on an individual basis, which is convenient and affordable for those who will be returning home after January 1. If needed, we will contact participants from Japan separately around December 9.
