Welcome to the Equipper Conference website!
My name is Marian Mine, and I have the great honor of serving as the executive director for Equipper Conference 17! Whether you are still considering about attending EC, or if you have attended EC before and already registered to go again, I would like to take this moment to share my heart for EC with you. From the beginning of the year 2017, the planning committee has been working hard on building this year’s program. I would like to share the theme and vision that God has given us for this year’s EC!
The theme for this year is....
“Freedom~Living the Freedom in Christ.”
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
2nd Corinthians 3:17
The youth of this generation, whether in Japan or in North America, may have not necessarily experienced war, but we all are witnesses of the tragic reality that this world is corrupt and heavily influenced by evil and violence. In the world that is oriented around social media, not only do we have more information on all that goes on in the world, but we are constantly peppered by voices that are tweeted all over the cyber world and our minds are influenced by what we consume. Because of all the valid and invalid information available to us, we are constantly oppressed by unnecessary fear, anger, despair, and lust. To state it frank, we are bound to how this world orients, and we are constantly at risk of being swayed by its waves, which are crushing over to get us.
However, as Christians, it does not end there! At EC, we are focusing on the freedom we have been given through the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ! For some reason, we all crave for tangible “freedom.” In fact, people hesitate to become Christians, because in this world, to live as a disciple of Christ seems like a “loss”, as if one is “bound” to something. That very misunderstanding shows that people are bound to the world. However, once we experience the joy of salvation, our eyes are open to new perspective that surpasses what’s offered in the physical world. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection on the cross, our Lord defeated death and won the ultimate victory. By this Gospel, we are no longer bound to law, but free from death, and we can live by the grace of God. We pray that each participant will experience this conviction anew. Rather than to live freely (or to live however we want), we envision us to choose to live out the freedom already given to us, and to proclaim that gift for ourselves through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our heavenly father has already provided us with a great team and a vision for this year’s EC! We are full with anticipation of how God is going to guide us in planning the program, and how He is going to move. Please keep us and EC in your prayers. Why wait till December? The planning team is praying that you and I can all begin to proclaim freedom through Jesus Christ in our daily lives from today! We look forward to seeing you at EC!
