Dear EC20 Beyond Participants,
How are you experiencing “Listen” in your daily life?
As I reflected on EC, I kept thinking to myself, “I am SO glad we chose to actually do EC this year (even if it was online).” I was overwhelmed and moved by how God gave us an EC that far exceeded our expectations!
Even after EC, God has been teaching me things and I would like to share with you what I have been thinking about in terms of listening to God.
I believe that listening means tasting the grace that allows us to come to the Lord, just as we are. It's not about hiding our sins or fixing ourselves up before we go, but about going to God with who we are. God accepts us as we are, even if we feel like we are falling apart.
It takes practice to listen. Listening is not easy. We have to fight against the noise, and we have to practice listening to God's voice. But let's not be afraid to keep listening.
Listening starts with God. God continues to listen to us and speak to us. Even when we think, "I can't hear Him," He is still speaking to us? (Psalm 37:7).
There is a phrase from one of my favorite hymns that I want to share with you.
“Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face.
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”
When we are lost or troubled, may we first look and listen to Jesus before we think about what we should do or how we should do it.
P.S. I hope you get to continue to keep in touch, share, pray and encourage each other with the small groups and IBS friends you met at EC20 Beyond! I’m sure you’ll be encouraged!
